It had been a while since Aura went to her friend Abby, asking her for a little favor. The favor she asked of her friend was out of the ordinary for Aura but Abby was more than happy to help her friend. Aura visited her every day for a couple weeks until she felt confident and ready enough by herself. She was a little nervous at first, but gradually overcame her nervousness, which was replaced by determination.
During the next two weeks, Aura was always locked in one room of the apartment that she used as her personal room for drawing, creating her stories and sometimes for relaxing. But now she was using the room for another purpose, making sure the door was heavily locked and that no one would disturb her while she was working. Of course Wynter and Amy couldn't help but wonder each day what Aura was doing in that room. Even Angel, Dante and Abby were curious of her actions. They had asked Abby if she knew what Aura was up to but Abby could only answer to them that she only helped her in working with mechanical and steampunk creativity. It was mainly to make cute little clocks and gadgets used for decorations or to sell to others.
Unfortunately they could only impatiently wait until Aura was finished with whatever she was doing. They only time Aura ever left the room was to eat, drink or use the bathroom. She rarely even went to bed at night, staying up every night. It wasn't until February, on her birthday, that Aura finally came out of the room...
Aura yawned as she left the work room as she called it, feeling tired, exhausted and hungry. With the lack of eating and sleeping her body felt weak, but it was worth it for the work she put in on her creation. It made her feel happy and good inside that she could and had created something so amazing but at the same time it had been very difficult to make. There had been plenty of times where she had been frustrated and shouted a lot of profanity, more than likely causing everyone else to hear her, but her work was finally paid off.
She went into the kitchen, opening the fridge and pulled out a carton of eggs and a bottle of ketchup. She went to the stove and looked through the bottom cabinets, taking out a small frying pan and set it on the stove. After setting the eggs and ketchup on the counter, she took out a medium sized porcelain teapot that she had bought from a small antique store in town a few months back. It was light purple in color with a few light red and dark blue designs that were all around it. Of course she couldn't resist buying it and she used it ever since.
After filling the teapot with water Aura set it on one of the stove tops and took the lid off, opening a top cabinet and taking out a box filled with herbs and spices. Aura then carefully sprinkled a few herbs and spices in the teapot and put the box away. She smiled as she put the top back on the teapot and turned the stove on, opening the carton of eggs and cracking two open over the frying pan.
The sun shone brightly through the windows, hitting her black fur and warming her up slowly. It made her feel good as well as the smell of eggs cooking and tea brewing. "I am definitely taking a bath afterwards." she said to herself, taking out a spatula and scrambling the eggs.
It was pretty early in the morning, and Aura was the first one awake, but it wasn't long until Wynter and Amy woke up shortly after, the smell of eggs cooking flowing throughout the rooms. Bryan, who was sprawled out on the couch sleeping, woke up quickly, running to the kitchen and almost knocking Aura to the floor in the process. She laughed and scratched his ears as Wynter and Amy walked out, surprised to see Aura out of the room.
"You finally came out! Thank god!" Wynter said, almost shouting as she tightly hugged Aura.
Aura smiled and hugged Wynter back as she waved at Amy, who waved back. "You're out of the room!" Amy squealed, giving Aura and Wynter a tight hug. "What were you doing in there anyways?" Amy asked, still curious as she let them go.
"Everyone will see soon enough. But right now I just want to have breakfast, some tea and a bath after I eat." she said.
"You're going to make us wait after how many days you had yourself locked up in that room doing god knows what?" Wynter asked skeptically, kind of upset that she had to wait to see what Aura had been doing all that time.
Amy, unfortunately didn't have enough patience as she casually walked down the hall to the room while Wynter and Aura were talking, opening the door as she smiled eagerly. It wasn't until she had the door halfway open when Aura realized Amy had walked away and was about to reveal her surprise early.
"Amy!" Aura shouted as she ran down the hall to stop her, only to reach her a little too late.
Faster than Amy could see or even react, a silver metalish blur zipped by her after she opened the door, flying down the hall and into the kitchen where Wynter was standing and waiting. She almost screamed when the silver blur started flying and buzzing around her head non-stop, making her swat at it.
"Holy shit! What the hell is this thing!" she shouted, trying to back away. "Aura help me over here!"
Bryan tilted his head as he watched curiously, his tail wagging fast as he grinned and pounced at Wytner, attempting to grab whatever the silver blur was that was buzzing around Wynter's head. Unfortunately the silver blur dodged Bryan's pounce and flew off back down the hall and entered the bedroom as Bryan landed on Wynter, pinning her down to the floor.
"This is why I wanted to wait." Aura said, groaning in frustration as she headed to the bedroom, Amy going to the kitchen to help Wynter.
In the bedroom, the silver blur had finally come to a rest, having landed on the dresser near the window, which revealed it to be a small mechanical dragon, almost as big as a raven but its body was thin. Its wings fluttered and its tail twitched nervously as it surveyed its surroundings, its feet making small clicking noises as it scurried along the dresser. When it saw Aura come into the room, the dragon calmed down slightly, giving off mechanical chirps and clicks as if happy to see her.
Aura smiled as she slowly moved towards the dresser, holding her paw out to the wyvern. "Hey Animal. I'm here, everything's okay. No need to be afraid." she said softly, hoping he would relax a little more.
The little dragon tilted his head, watching her as he cautiously moved towards her open paw, watching as he poked her paw with his small muzzle, then suddenly hoped onto her paw and flapped his silver wings happily, chirping at her. Aura lightly patted the dragon's head, able to hear the small mechanical ticking of his 'heart' that she made for him.
Once she felt that he was comfortable enough, Aura left the bedroom as Animal climbed up her shirt and clung to her shoulder, causing her to giggle. "I see you're enjoying yourself." she said, smiling.
She noticed that Wynter was sitting on the couch, arms crossed as she glared at Bryan. Amy was watching tv while sitting next to Wynter and Bryan sat on the floor, his tail wagging as he smiled at Wynter. His attention went to Aura, then at the dragon on her shoulder, making him growl. The dragon only gave out a small mechanical roar at Bryan, trying to act bigger and tougher.
Aura rolled her eyes as she sat on the chair across from the couch, Animal jumped down to her lap and curled up, folding his wings in as he fell asleep. Wynter stared at the sleeping dragon curiously. "So that's what you were working on all this time? What does it do?" she asked.
"HE can disguise himself as a necklace and become a dagger. The jewel on his head is what keeps him alive. And the jewels on his back and wings give him some magic abilities." Aura replied, explaining it as best she could.
"I see...what kind of abilities?" Wynter ask, a grin starting to form on her face.
"You'll see eventually, but not today. He needs his rest." she said as she lightly pet the sleeping dragon.
